Emma Original Hybrid Mattress Review

Emma is one of the biggest mattress makers in the world and they recently released two new options. In this Emma Original Hybrid mattress review, I will talk about this latest release that promises to help you sleep better.

As its name suggests, this is a hybrid mattress so it combines pocket springs with memory foam. I decided to order mine two weeks ago so after spending the last week sleeping on it, I am ready to move to the full review below.

What is this mattress made of?

The Original Hybrid mattress is made of 4 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:

  • An Airgocell foam layer that has fantastic pressure-relieving properties and is designed to protect vulnerable areas of your body like your hips and shoulders. To achieve that, it has 5 support zones.
  • A layer made of pocket springs that can support any body type. They are 8″ tall and are designed to minimise motion transfer.
  • An HRX foam layer that improves edge support.
  • A base foam layer that is the foundation of this mattress.

The Emma Original Hybrid mattress has a medium height that measures 25cm. The image below gives us a better look at how it looks from the inside.

Does it come with a nice cover?

The cover of this mattress is made of UltraDry fabric. This is a breathable material that will help your mattress stay cool during the night. Additionally, it can wick moisture away which is very important for the Singaporean climate. The cover is removable and machine-washable. That means that it’s easy to maintain and keep clean. On the sides, you will find 4 handles that can help you move it with ease. This is practical thinking and it shows how well-made this mattress is. The design is the typical ‘Emma’ design so you should expect a grey bottom part and a white top part. Overall, this is a high-quality cover that won’t disappoint you.

How firm is the Original Hybrid mattress?

It’s time now to continue with this Emma Original Hybrid mattress review and discuss its feel. This is a medium-firm mattress and if I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.6 with 10 being really firm. Let’s talk now about my experience with it for the past week.

firmness scale

Starting from the back position, the mattress supported my body and I felt that there was no pressure on my joints and hips. I was comfortable sleeping this way and I didn’t feel I was sinking too much.

Turning to the side position, the Emma springs adjusted quickly and sinkage increased. This allowed my spine to align correctly and that really impressed me. As for the hips area, there was no discomfort there and I was quite comfortable.

Finally, moving to the back position, the mattress did a good job handling my weight and that allowed my spine to align properly. This is hard to find and the Emma Original Hybrid mattress really impressed me.

If you share your bed with a partner, this mattress has excellent edge support so you can sleep even near the edges without the fear of rolling off. Moreover, the springs are designed to minimise motion transfer so you won’t disturb your partner.

Will I pay for delivery?

If you decide to buy this mattress, you will get free delivery. This usually takes 1-4 business days so you won’t wait long to get it. In my case, it was only two days and the whole process was smooth. The box arrived in great condition and the courier helped me place it inside my apartment. Communication was top notch and I was informed about every step of the delivery process. Overall, I was very happy with their service and I felt that the people at Emma did a great job here.

Can I try this at home?

Buying a mattress online can make you nervous but the good news is that this mattress comes with a 200-night trial period. That means that you can try it at home for more than 6 months. If you don’t like this mattress, you can return it and get your money back. Returns are free and the process is straightforward.

Moreover, all mattresses come with a 10-year warranty that will cover you for a really long time. This is the norm these days, especially with all these boxed mattresses. Overall, this is a complete package here so no complaints at all.

How much will I pay for it?

The Emma Original Hybrid mattress is available in 6 sizes so there are plenty of options to choose from. The smaller size (Single) sells for $1,098 with the bigger one (King) going for $1,898. However, don’t expect to pay the full price as Emma is a brand known for its frequent promotions. For instance, at the moment of writing this piece, a Queen size mattress would only cost you $764! The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.

Is this a mattress I should consider?

This is the main question that I have to answer before I complete this Emma Original Hybrid mattress review. In my opinion, this would be a great choice for anyone looking for:

  • A hybrid mattress that is suitable for all sleeper types.
  • A versatile mattress that can accommodate couples.
  • A mattress that comes with a 200-night trial period.

If all these sound good to you, the Original Hybrid mattress is an option you should consider. It’s a great all-rounder that comes at a fair price and this is something that is hard to ignore.
