Finding a good mattress can be a difficult task. After all, there are so many options out there that it’s easy to feel confused. In this Origin Hybrid mattress review, I will talk about this popular option that promises great sleep without costing a fortune.
Origin launched in Singapore a few years back and since then, they have seen great success. All their mattresses are designed in Germany by their expert team so they pack great technology. This is their first mattress and they decided to go with a hybrid design. That means that it combines foam layers with springs but more on that later. To cut costs, they send their mattresses packed in boxes and they are delivered directly to your door. Mine came almost a month ago so it’s about time I move to the full review below.
The Origin Hybrid mattress is made of 5 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
An Aeroflex natural latex layer that will provide your body with the needed pressure relief. This is ideal for those who suffer from a bad back.
A CloudCool memory foam layer that promises adaptive support. This type of foam is designed to sleep cool so you won’t feel hot during the night.
An edge support system that helps the mattress perform better. That means you will get the same type of support across every corner of the mattress.
A Reflex support layer that is made of open-cell foam and latex. It’s there to help with the transition from the upper foam layers to the springs.
A layer made of pocket springs that are designed to provide your body with the needed support. This type of spring allows air circulation so your mattress will sleep cool.
This mattress measures 10 inches in height and the image below showcases how each layer is positioned.
Is the cover any good?
The cover of this mattress is made of Tencel. If you are not familiar with this material, I must inform you that it comes with a number of properties that make it ideal to use for a cover. Tencel is made of wood and it’s one of the most eco-friendly materials out there. Moreover, it’s naturally anti-dustmite and anti-bacterial. This makes it ideal for those who suffer from allergies. Finally, Tencel allows airflow so your mattress will breathe and that translates to a cooler sleeping surface. The cover features a modern design with the sides being grey and the top part featuring a white colour. It feels soft and overall, the people at Origin managed to create a high-quality cover here. The only downside is the fact it’s not machine washable.
How does this mattress feel?
Let’s continue now with this Origin Hybrid mattress review and talk about its feel. This mattress is designed to suit the average sleeper so it comes with a medium-firm feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.4 with 10 being really firm. That makes it slightly softer than its bigger sibling, the Origin Hybrid Pro mattress. It’s time now to talk about my experience with this mattress and how it performed in different sleeping positions.
Starting from the back position, the upper layers hugged my back and I felt well-supported. Pressure relief was great and I felt comfortable in this position.
Turning to the side position, the springs reacted quickly and sinkage increased. This helped me have a better spine alignment and I didn’t have any discomfort in the hips area. Support remained good and I felt this mattress would be great for side sleepers.
Finally, moving to the front position, the sleeping surface felt slightly softer than I would have liked but I felt that the mattress did a good job with my hips and shoulders. Overall, this is a good all-rounder but I think it will better suit back and side sleepers.
If you have a partner, the Origin Hybrid can be a great choice. It has excellent edge support and the motion transfer is minimal. These two properties make it ideal for couples.
Does it come with a trial period?
If you decide to buy an Origin mattress, you will be offered a 120-night trial period which gives you exactly 4 months to try this mattress and decide later whether you want to keep it or not. If for any reason, you are not happy with your purchase, you can return it and get a full refund. All you have to do is contact them and they will arrange everything for you. Besides that, the Origin Hybrid mattress comes with a 15-year warranty that will cover you for a really long time. This is a fantastic package offered here and definitely one of the best services offered in Singapore.
How will it be delivered?
One of the main reasons you should buy from Origin is the fact they offer a great service. When you order a mattress it will be delivered the same day and that is offered for free! What is more here is that you can pay an extra $20 and have it delivered within 2 hours. Finally, if you want to choose a specific time slot it will also cost you an extra $20. This is definitely an impressive delivery service and it shows how much they value their customers. In my case, I decided to go with the same-day free service and I was really happy with it. The courier was polite and prompt and overall, I have no complaints at all.
How much will it cost me?
The mattress is available in 4 sizes so you have a number of options to choose from. The smaller size (Single Size) will cost you $399 with the bigger one (King Size) going for $829. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.
91 x 190 x 25.4 cm
107 x 190 x 25.4 cm
152 x 190 x 25.4 cm
183 x 190 x 25.4 cm
Is this a good buy?
It’s time now to complete this Origin Hybrid mattress review and answer the above question. In my opinion, this mattress would be a great option for those looking for:
A hybrid mattress that is designed for every sleeping position.
An affordable mattress that is built with high-quality materials.
A mattress that comes with a 120-night trial period.
If you look for all these, the Origin Hybrid can be a good choice. It’s a mattress that comes with great features and service and all that comes at a reasonable price. This is hard to find so this is a mattress I highly recommend.
